Ron...you know, the funny thing you said there it that racing in the rain is a hard sell for OVKA...not so. It was actually a very easy sell for ovka...remember...the membership???? I asked for a show of hands from the membership at the last drivers meeting, so that the BOD would see what the members wanted.

Now I thought that the BOD were supposed to do what the membership wanted????? Must be wrong there....The bod voted in what they wanted, plain and simple. So, my question is, why didn't the BOD do what the membership wanted???

I heard one of them say , well you didn't ask who didn't want rain racing.... I didn't think I had to, the show of hands was overwhelming, so usually when you see something that is obvious, you don't ask to see the other side of it......Yes is yes, and NO is no...pretty simple I guess.

My next step I guess is to make a survey up and get signatures from the master members as to what they want.....Sorry, all you other people that race there every weekend don't count, only the name on the top line....

Well i was meaning OVKA Board, as for me personally I don't think I would race in the rain, just my feelings, but I have drops for those if needed, for me I could only sign the Survey for you if it said something like "Do you think Racing in the Rain is OK for karters" Not one asking " if I wanted to race in the rain"

Thats just me, now as far as if I would ever try it, I probalbly would if it was a policy at OVKA, I would have no choice if the Drop's were taken out too..
THats the comment I heard when it was brought up, Rain racing if no drops.....

Ron

Bottom line is the Board cannot do anything to make you happy John. NOTHING
You come to our club with all your double standards and demands for your own agenda.
You just keep on wanting everything your way. You give nothing and want everything.
The club was what it was when you joined it, so things must have looked ok to you then.
Now that you think your a big fish in a small pond (in your mind) everything the club stands for and it's heritage means nothing to you. Get over yourself, noone has you chained down.

I am not trying to be a bad person here.
I am just not one to put up with anyone kicking me around.
Debating an issue is one thing I can keep up with, maybe we should stick to that.

Calm down Mike, take some deep breaths and say budwiser 3 times. The bod made a couple of good decisions this past meeting that should start...... START...... to make up for a history of not listening / caring what the general membership wanted. Dont ask us to give them total absolution on their first try.

Mike, what the hell are you talking about....seriously, because I have the balls to open my mouth and say what I feel, then that means I am bashing the club???

I really like the club, you are right. We race there because we like the people, and because it is a fun place to be.

Heritage..you keep saying that.....ok, they used to race Macs, and something else at the club, so why the hell aren't you pushing for only vintage racing???? That is the definition of heritage my friend.

Secondly...you wrote,,,you come to our club????? Hell, when we came to the club, you weren't there.....so how do you put yourself before me??? But really I think that it is my club also, I believe that a club with members that pay dues, have something to say about what happens in the club, don't they????

Double standards???? Please be more specific

Not sure why you think that I think I am a big fish in a small pond??? What are you referring to???

As far as giving back..not sure what you want from me, the first several years we were at the club, we were at every cleanup, on committees, did whatever was asked, gave all the fancy white trashcans to the club, and oh yeah...that little thing of being a double sponsor....I thought I was doing quite a bit, but maybe I am wrong, maybe a board member has just pointed out to me that what I do is not appreciated, and I should reconsider what I do.

I also need to point out to you Mike that again, no personal agenda here...The things that I pushed for are what the members wanted, they just can't all make it to the meeting.
I asked for a show of hands at the drivers meeting...and hoped that the BOD would see the hands...but they know what is better for us.

John you know as well as I do, ( Because you told me yourself ) and I quote you from my best of memory " Ron if you really want this class you have to go to the board meeting and prove to them the need and desire of the members to get it, and have all the specs and proof of need and even if you do, you still probably wont get it) but I took the time ( 1 1/2 days Vacation time - of which I only get 10 days a year) to make it to the meeting and prove that this was something members wanted, of which I was not the only one there just the only one with a speech Very Happy , ( 6 of the new SBX Heavy drivers were there ) .

Mabey if the membership really wanted to race in the rain, you should have asked them to come to the meeting and stand up for themselves as you told me I had to do.

But when you and others always add the final sentence to this ( you probably won't get it any way, because they do what they want, they know whats best for the membership ) more people would make the time for something they really want, But a drivers meeting is not where the board discusses issues be for them - a board meeting is - hell the President of the US himself can't even make a law or change a policy without going to a board meeting ( Congress ) .

This is why OVKA has a BOD and holds Board Meeting - discuss the issues and wants and vote acording to what they hear at that meeting not what is screamed at them during a race... and finally as you saw at the meeting, and is in the bylaws of the club from day one - only Master Members Can Vote - this keeps a group from coming together under one membership and controling the vote and the club- Democracy at its best.

We are in America where there are about 216 million registered voters and only about half actually vote and a lot of them don't vote or stand up for their beliefs because they have always heard that their one vote doesn't really make a differance they just go along with what others decide for them - so I would bet that they had put their full trust in you going and fighting for them and what ever happened - happened, because they always here that the BOD votes on what they think is best for the members not what the members think is best for them.... so why show up?????

I couldn't believe that way of thinking so I showed up and made my case to them, along with others and they listened and voted our way....

I think the system works if you work with the system........

And Yes, " I used to like you too "

Ron

Just doing the same thing your are doing John. Speaking up for people who choose not to.
When someone is the cause of others not attending something, then there is a problem.
When someone is the reason other’s leave, then there is a problem.
When someone is the reason other’s quit doing something, then there is a problem.
I do not feel this is the place to go into all the problems. Too much reading between the lines.
But feel free to call me anytime.

Actually Ron...your vote really doesn't count in the US...I don't really honestly understand all of it,,,but I know that the popular vote doesn't always win...it comes down to all the other stuff.....which I think is crap...and why I don't vote.

Mr. Brown
I'm not real sure what your real problem is with my husband, one reading all of your posts might gain the impression -through all of your PERSONAL attacks- that your issues are with john and you are failing to discuss/debate real issues. You should really try to stick to the issues and keep the insults out of it...maybe you could call him!!!! Evil or Very Mad
