Looks like we'll be going to more WKA races......
I don't know how many of you have been following the antics of our little grooup, so here's a few updates.
1. Prices for races went up $.00 for entry fee.
2. Sponsorship went up about $100. Lesse 5x14=70. What's the rest for?
3. Our protest methods are going away, and WKA's were substituted. Courtesy Mr. Horn.
4. It's being thrown about that fuel cost is again rising, and we are making no money on fuel sales. Should we??
I know Pat Slattery fiinds some joy in all this, but if the local club is going to look, and be like WKA, I think we'll go to WKA more. After all it's only about five or six races, so the ocst will be the same or less.

Come on Jean, that was not nice. Why would I want our cost at OVKA to go up. I race at the club also, and want it as cheap as possible.
The club has kept the prices the same for a long time, probably about 10 years or so, so it is hard to bitch about a $5.00 dollar hike. They are going to upgrade the restrooms, or at least the ladies, not sure about both, so that costs money and should be a positive for the club.
I still think we should spec a regular pump gas grade for the club, especially if the club is loosing money or not making money on fuel sales. We have to supply money up front for the fuel to purchase and I believe there might be some pilfering also of the fuel. Not sure but I suspect it.
Either get a pump gas fuel delivered to the club and use a sample as the spec fuel, or allow the members to buy pump gas from a local gas station.
We have been down this road many times, but if you investigate like Jerry and I did several years ago, Shell is the same all around the Ohio area, so spec Shell gas and be done with it. Also I don't believe our tech people believe that there is cheating going on or that they can't detect it with the equipment that we have so why bother. I don't think fuel has been checked more than once last year. Am I wrong about the fuel tech, please advise. Anyone can beat a simple Digatron test if you want to cheat, the only way to really test would be a more involved testing and at least the water test from time to time.

I tried to answer each item you mentioned, but it screwed up the entire format, so here goes:
1. I didn't say you wanted to increase cost. Where'd you get that? I said you'd be pleased that the group is more like WKA.
2. Entry fees have remained where they are for the past seven years, but, there have been gate fee increasss to cover insurance during that period.
3. They have been going to upgrade the restroms for at least five of the past seven years. The 50-50 raffle was raising funds for just that purpose. Since then it's been used to pay for the ambulance, and sugment the revenue on race day to cover worker cost.
4. I agree they should be using pump gas. However, delivered race fuel has no road tax on it. Using pump gas dispensed from our system would likely mean a reqauirement to pay tax of some sort, at least sales tax. "Pilfeering" is just a polite word for "Stealing".
5. For the record, Shell pump premium gas reads +160 in the DT-47.
6. I don't know aqbout the bulk of the classes, but TaG ws checked seveeral times last year, at least the front few, and I saw Yamahas being checked by Mr. Brown at least three times. If the back-markers are cheating with fuel, it ain't working for them.
7. If Shell gas was speced, we couldn't follow the 0 to -80 that WKA specifies, we'd need to make a sample and use that, same as now. Then it becomes a question of slight variances from different areas. The fuel should be the same for all though.
Don't lose sight of the fact, fact, that this is a LOCAL CLUB, and not F1. In trying to keep cost down on fuel from those 'moneybags' that were using $18.00/gallon stuff, we now can DQ someone oover pump gas, and the 'money bags' stilll prevail. And I know waht product will drop the digarton reading, and it's more toxic than what was used before, except for 1,1,dioxane. Each rule we add limits some freedom. Don't get carried away.

Sorry Jean but you said I would find joy in all the negative things you mentioned above. Hell no I wouldn't. I am glad that we chose the same tire as WKA, Russell shot themselves in the foot with the SL4, or they would still be the tire of the club.
I think getting our schedule out now and having earlier races will be a plus for the club, with the exception of the early saturday night race:(
